LAST FEW COPIES IN EUROPE REMAINING, SOLD OUT IN NORTH AMERICA

An institution is a hothouse and the university, which should be a cool place, is no exception. It is both threatened and sustained by passions and moods, intrigues and power games. Can photography be factual and capture a frame of mind? Can there be redemption from sin in writing?

The Academic Year is the first in a series of books at the intersection of photography and literature. Born out of the experience of the ongoing SPBH Pamphlet series, it is with great excitement that we launch this new series with the latest project of a long ongoing collaboration between artist Rut Blees Luxemburg and philosopher Alexander García Düttmann.

Drawing from our practice as artbook makers, the book is UV offset printed allowing the traditional paper pages of a Penguin-style paperback novel the quality of an artists book.

Rut Blees Luxemburg is an artist living in London. Her photographic work explores urban perceptions and brings to light the overlooked, the dismissed and the unforeseen.

Alexander García Düttmann teaches aesthetics at the University of the Arts in Berlin. His publications include the books Naive Art: An Essay on Happiness" (2012) and "What Does Art Know?" (2015).
